Report: Ricky Starks & Swerve Strickland Had Backstage Scuffle In AEW

An incident between Swerve Strickland and Ricky Starks

All Elite Wrestling talents weren't afraid to have a fracas backstage in 2022.

There were several backstage incidents in the promotion last year, with Eddie Kingston and Sammy Guevara having issues in August before Brawl Out in September that featured a fight between The Elite, CM Punk and Ace Steel. Andrade El Idolo then threw punches at Sammy Guevara a couple of weeks later after they had a back-and-forth on Twitter.

Those weren't the only backstage incidents in 2022, though. According to Fightful Select, Swerve Strickland and Ricky Starks had a "scuffle" after the AEW World Tag Team Title match at Double or Nothing. The incident stemmed from a miscommunication late in the match in which Strickland attacked Ricky Starks following an attempted pin on Jungle Boy.

Starks was reportedly supposed to go for his finisher but Strickland was doing nothing inside the ring and decided it would be better for him to get hit and be dumped out of the squared circle to ensure he wasn't just standing around watching "Absolute" hit his finishing move.

A follow-up segment between Starks and Strickland on Dynamite was scrapped following the incident but they later made peace and remain on good terms.

The AEW World Tag Team Title match at Double or Nothing saw Jurassic Express retain the belts against Swerve Strickland & Keith Lee, and Ricky Starks & Powerhouse Hobbs.
