Report: Robert Roode Undergoes Slight WWE Name Change

Robert Roode is no more

A WWE star has undergone a slight name change within the company.

Robert Roode has been listed under that name within WWE since April 2019 after his tag team with Chad Gable disbanded and Roode returned with the new moniker and a well-trimmed moustache. That has now changed, though, and Fightful Select reported that Roode is once again listed as 'Bobby Roode' on WWE's internal lists as opposed to 'Robert Roode.'

Why WWE decided to switch Roode back to Bobby is unknown. Vince McMahon has been somewhat obsessed with first names in the past, though, insisting that Petey Williams be called Pete.

Roode is currently working backstage in WWE, shadowing as a producer. This is while Roode is out of action due to injury, having undergone neck fusion surgery on two occasions since November 2022. The former TNA World Heavyweight Champion has not wrestled since a house show loss to Omos in June 2022 and he is not expected to return to the squared circle until 2024.
