Report: Roderick Strong Requests Release From WWE

WWE has reportedly denied the request

Roderick Strong has reportedly asked for his release from WWE, according to a new report from Fightful Select.

The report claims that Strong has asked for his release "multiple times" over the last several months. Strong has reportedly become frustrated with many things over the past year within the company.

WWE has reportedly denied his request, with some sources claiming that Strong "factors into their creative plan."

Strong has not wrestled since the March 29 NXT broadcast.

Strong reportedly re-signed with WWE shortly before the debut of the Diamond Mine stable in 2021. None of the other members originally pitched for the group, including Tyler Rust, Arturo Ruas, Malcolm Bivens, Hideki Suzuki, and Marina Shafir (Strong's wife), are with WWE any more.

The Fightful report claims that Strong has opposed the pitch of a name change. There are also many within WWE surprised that Strong was not part of the April 29 spate of NXT releases.

Strong joined WWE in late 2016. He has held the NXT North American, Cruiserweight, and Tag Team titles during his tenure.
