Report: ROH Champion's AEW Contract Set To Expire

Could an ROH champion be set to leave?

A champion in Ring of Honor's contract with All Elite Wrestling is reportedly set to expire.

According to Fightful Select, Brian Cage's deal with AEW will expire in a matter of weeks unless both sides agree to an extension. If Cage and AEW are currently in talks about a new contract is unknown, however.

Cage's deal with AEW was originally set to expire in February 2022 but the promotion picked up his option year, something which came as a pleasant surprise for The Machine as he hadn't been on TV for months, not wrestling on any Tony Khan-booked programming between October 2021 and April 2022.

Cage has been a fixture in both Ring of Honor and AEW in recent months as a member of The Embassy. He is one-third of the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Champions with Kaun and Toa Liona. The trio defeated Dalton Castle and The Boys at Final Battle in December 2022 to win the gold.

Fightful further noted "there have been feelers within WWE that have gauged the company's interest in bringing Cage in" but it is unknown if there is any interest from either side on working together. Cage was a WWE developmental talent for a short time until his release in 2009 and the company previously told the former IMPACT World Champion he was "average at best."
