Report: Roman Reigns Won't Be Back On WWE TV For "At Least A Few Months"

SmackDown will be without one of its top stars for a while...

Ahead of WrestleMania 36, Roman Reigns made the decision to pull out of his Universal Championship match with Goldberg. It emerged that The Usos were unhappy about The Miz being ill while in Orlando, Florida which caused The Big Dog to withdraw from his bout and head home. WWE also confirmed over the weekend that an on-screen talent had contracted coronavirus and the company found out while taping night two of The Showcase Of The Immortals.

Reigns was expected to win his second Universal Championship at 'Mania, but the company went in a different direction and Braun Strowman ended April 5 as Universal Champion. Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that WWE does not know when Roman will return, and the company has proceeded with this in mind as the top program on Friday Night SmackDown will be Strowman vs. "The Fiend" Bray Wyatt as The Eater Of Worlds looks to reclaim the gold he lost at Super ShowDown.

In the wake of Meltzer's report, Paul Davis at Wrestlingnews.co reached out to a friend of The Big Dog's. While no exact timescale was put on Reigns' return, Davis was told he won't be back on WWE TV for "at least a few months."
