After defeating Shotzi at Survivor Series WarGames, Ronda Rousey will be looking ahead to the 2023 Royal Rumble, with the SmackDown Women’s Champion needing an opponent for the event.

Whilst no plans have been confirmed as of yet, a report from WrestlingNews.co suggests that Rousey will look to defend the title against Raquel Rodriguez on January 28, coming after Rousey ‘snapped’ Rodriguez’ arm on WWE TV.

A former NXT Women’s Champion, Rodriguez was said to have been singled out for great things by Vince McMahon upon her call-up to the main roster, and is also said to have a supporter in Triple H. However, WrestlingNews.co's report suggests that Ronda may emerge victorious from the Rumble, as ‘The Rowdy One’ is set to work WrestleMania 39 as champion.

If the match goes ahead it will be the biggest of Rodriguez’ career, having been brought up to main in April 2022. Since leaving NXT, Rodriguez has had one reign as WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions with Aliyah, having won the vacant titles in August 2022.
