WWE have continued to pivot away from their original plans for the women's tag team division due to Ronda Rousey's injury.

It was noted ahead of WrestleMania 39 that Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler would challenge for and win the WWE Women's Tag Team Championships at the Showcase of the Immortals. It emerged, though, that Rousey was dealing with a knee injury and a broken arm which prompted WWE to pause those plans and book the UFC Hall of Famer and Shayna Baszler in a Women's Showcase Match at WrestleMania. Rousey and Baszler won that match by submission after Rousey locked in an Armbar on Shotzi.

Rousey and Baszler have been absent from WWE TV since WrestleMania and Liv Morgan & Raquel Rodriguez are the new WWE Women's Tag Team Champions following their win over Becky Lynch & Trish Stratus on last week's Raw. Some expected Rousey and Baszler to be the next challengers for the titles but the new champions have since begun a programme with Chelsea Green & Sonya Deville following an attack on last week's SmackDown.

In an update, Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that WWE can't execute their original plans as Rousey is still not cleared to make an in-ring return.

"Well, you know the deal is...Ronda Rousey is still not cleared, so they can't do the Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler thing, which was the plan," Meltzer said.

When Rousey will be medically cleared for in-ring action is unknown.
