Report: Sami Zayn's WWE Contract To Expire Later This Year

Could the former Intercontinental Champion be out the door?

With speculation rife about the future of several of WWE’s contracted stars, it seems there may be some light shed on the future of Sami Zayn.

Per a report from Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Zayn’s contract is set to expire later this year, although Meltzer gave no indication as to what date it is set to expire.

Zayn’s name has been linked with that of Kevin Owens, whose WWE contract is also set to expire in the not-too-distant future. The former tag partners-cum-enemies are close friends outside of the ring, with many in the industry jokingly referring to Owens as Zayn’s agent, and it is assumed by some that if Owens is to make the jump from WWE, then Zayn may not be too far behind.

The news that the the pair’s contracts are set to expire is both shocking and not at the same time. With the likes of Bryan Danielson and Adam Cole leaving WWE after their deals came to an end, and the likes of Pete Dunne in NXT reportedly near the end of his deal, this state of play is seemingly the ‘new normal’ in WWE.
