Report: Security Confiscates CM Punk Signs Ahead Of AEW Collision

AEW were removing CM Punk signs

Before last night’s AEW Collision began, the news broke of CM Punk being officially terminated by the company. Ahead of a show in front of a hot Chicago crowd in the United Center, this was certainly a risky move on the part of Tony Khan. Although he did acknowledge the firing of CM Punk both before the show went on the air in front of the live crowd and again in a pre-taped video which was shown when the event opened, the removal of CM Punk mentions was already in motion.

Fans who came to the arena with CM Punk signs were allegedly having them confiscated, per a report from Fightful Select which stated; We’ve heard that there were also ongoing discussions between AEW and WBD about the on-screen direction of AEW Collision. Security was confiscating CM Punk signs ahead of the show, which was to be expected.”

The live crowd was initially hostile towards Tony Khan, with the removal of signs perhaps also adding to the fire, but the show wasn’t taken over by “CM Punk” chants when all was said and done.
