Report: Several AEW Talents Likely To Be Absent From Forbidden Door

Some AEW faces will be absent from Forbidden Door II

We are a little over a month away from AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door II live from Toronto, and despite All Elite Wrestling needing to get Double or Nothing out of the way on May 28, speculation has already started building towards the second major AEW vs. New Japan show.

Whilst no matches have yet been announced for Forbidden Door II, it seems like some AEW stars are expected to be absent from the show with Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter suggesting that Andrade El Idolo will likely not be performing on the show.

El Idolo is set to return to AEW in June with the debut of Collision, but his status as a former CMLL wrestler who later performed for AAA means his addition to the Forbidden Door card is unlikely. The same goes for the likes of The Lucha Brothers, Bandido, Komander, Rush, and Dralistico, with NJPW enjoying a close working relationship with AAA’s rival CMLL.

Although several AEW stars such as Kenny Omega and Sammy Guevara have managed to work AAA and NJPW shows without complaint, Meltzer says ‘the rules are different if you’re Mexican’, alluding to the at times fierce rivalry between AAA and CMLL over the years.
