Report: Cody Rhodes Vs. Roman Reigns Internally Considered WWE's 'Ultimate Destination' Match

Still plans for a Cody Rhodes vs. Roman Reigns rematch

An update on WWE's plans for a rematch between Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes has emerged.

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Roman Reigns vs. Cody Rhodes is the long-term direction "for the ultimate destination match." WrestleMania 40 is considered a strong possibility for the rematch but those plans could change over the next 11 months. The 2024 edition of the Show of Shows is scheduled to take place on April 6 and April 7 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Recent reports have indicated that Reigns vs. Rhodes is on the table for WrestleMania 40, but so is a first-time-ever clash between Cody and GUNTHER.

Reigns and Cody faced off over the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship in the main event of WrestleMania 39 in early April. Rhodes was widely expected to 'finish the story' and dethrone Reigns but Roman picked up the victory following interference from Solo Sikoa. The result was widely criticised but Triple H responded to the backlash by stating that stories in WWE never end
