Report: Several Wrestlers To Be The "Next Generation" Of AEW

Who will be the future and "next generation" of AEW?

AEW is a promotion jam-packed to the brim with talent, and even in just their short history there have been different stars in and around the top of the card. When looking ahead to after AEW Revolution 2024, there could be new names that AEW begins to build the company around.

According to Andrew Zarian of the Mat Men podcast, there are huge plans in store for several wrestlers. Most notably, Zarian singled out Will Ospreay, who will be having his first match as a contracted AEW wrestler later tonight at AEW Revolution. It is noted that Ospreay is seen as the future of the company. Ospreay recently signed to AEW after a successful run in NJPW where he was showered in gold, winning the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship, United States Championship, Junior Heavyweight Championship, and NEVER Openweight Championship, in addition to having countless standout matches. There were recently reports of Ospreay going forwards as a big singles babyface, rather than remaining aligned with the Don Callis Family.

It isn’t just Ospreay who is lined up for a bright future in AEW though, as Zarian noted that anyone he’s had conversations with in AEW is pretty certain of who the future of the company surrounds, with the names emphasised as the “next generation” of AEW include Konosuke Takeshita, Daniel Garcia, Swerve Strickland, Adam Page, and Orange Cassidy. All of these individuals are set for big matches at the upcoming PPV.
