Report: Some In NJPW Believe Will Ospreay Could Be WWE NXT UK Bound

Some in New Japan Pro-Wrestling believe Will Ospreay could be NXT UK bound, according to a report from Voices Of Wrestling. 

As recently noted, NJPW vacated the IWGP World Heavyweight Title and Will Ospreay returning to the UK for treatment of a legitimate neck injury was used as a cover story for the vacation. 

With relations between Ospreay and NJPW seemingly at a low point, multiple Japanese wrestlers and at least one person in the New Japan office believes The Aeriel Assassin could join NXT UK. Voices Of Wrestling noted the NXT UK rumours could be because of a misunderstanding, though, as some in Japan don't fully understand the differences between NXT UK and NXT and the low priority the UK brand is given within WWE.  

One source close to Japanese wrestlers even stated the talk of Ospreay heading to NXT UK stems from "ignorance of the western wrestling landscape." 

Ospreay remains under contract with NJPW and he would need to be granted his release if he did wish to depart the company. He noted back in 2019 that he was "property of the lion mark" until 2024.
