Report: Stephanie McMahon & Triple H Opposed Potential WWE Sale

Stephanie McMahon and Triple H were reportedly not in favour of a WWE sale

The potential sale of WWE has been the hot topic in wrestling so far in 2023, with rumours of WWE being sold to the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund blowing up the internet before being dismissed as premature and somewhat wide of the mark.

In order to facilitate any sale of WWE, Vince McMahon made his shocking return to the company, with Stephanie McMahon resigning from her positions as Chairwoman and Co-CEO, whilst also leaving her position on the WWE Board of Directors.

A new report from Axios suggests that prior to leaving her position, Stephanie McMahon was opposed to any sale of WWE, with husband and Chief Content Office Paul "Triple H" Levesque also opposed to a potential sale.

Furthermore, writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer suggests that Stephanie and Vince McMahon had issues working together before Vince’s retirement in 2022, with Nick Khan acting as somewhat of an intermediary, keeping relations smooth between the two sides on a professional level. Meltzer also suggested that Khan was also a buffer between Vince and Triple H.
