Report: Steve Austin Vs. Kevin Owens Discussed For WWE WrestleMania 38

Could it happen?

An in-ring return for Stone Cold Steve Austin could possibly be in the works for WWE WrestleMania 38, according to multiple sources.

Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter has reported a match pitting Austin against Kevin Owens is being discussed for WrestleMania, taking place the first weekend of April in Arlington, TX.

Sean Ross Sapp at Fightful Select corroborates the story of WWE looking to get Austin back for a match at WrestleMania, but does not name the opponent.

If it happens, it would mark Austin's first match since WrestleMania 19 on March 30, 2003, where he lost to The Rock. Owed to numerous injuries, 38-year-old Austin ceased his in-ring career following that match, though he continued to appear for WWE in non-wrestling roles.

On Monday's Raw, Sonya Deville and Adam Pearce floated the idea that Owens might not make it onto the WrestleMania card, due to losing his Elimination Chamber qualifying match. Owens also went on to make disparaging comments about the state of Texas.

Over the past several years, Owens has used the Stone Cold Stunner as his own finishing move.
