Report: Talent Told Malakai Black Is Done With AEW

Malakai Black appears to be finished with AEW

Malakai Black is done with All Elite Wrestling for the foreseeable future, numerous talents have been told, according to Fightful Select. Many informed Fightful the House of Black leader had been granted his release by the promotion.

Black's release is said to be "highly conditional" and talent believe there are heavy restrictions on the former WWE NXT Champion, including conditions that would stop him from wrestling anywhere else anytime soon.

Reports last week noted that Black had requested his release in August but that request was rejected. Fightful stated that Tony Khan wanted to keep Black in the company and wanted him to be with AEW "for years to come." Conversations were had to try and salvage the working relationship which AEW thought was fruitful but a meeting recently took place and it was decided they should probably allow Black to leave if he wanted to go.

Black's last AEW match took place at Sunday's All Out pay-per-view when he and House of Black faction-mates Brody King and Buddy Matthews lost a Trios Match to Sting, Darby Allin, and Miro. Following the bout, the House of Black embraced before Malakai blew the crowd a kiss and bowed.

It was noted in recent reports that a personal situation has weighed heavily on Black and he had privately mentioned leaving professional wrestling, possibly permanently.

Malakai Black made his AEW debut back in July of 2021 and signed a long-term deal with the promotion.
