Report: Talents Excited About Possibility Of Sasha Banks Joining AEW
Could Sasha Banks join AEW?
After walking out of WWE in May, fans have long speculated what Sasha Banks' next move in wrestling could be, whether that be a WWE return, or Banks appearing elsewhere in the wrestling world.
With Banks - real name Mercedes Varnado - recently being heavily rumoured for an appearance at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 17 in January 2023, it has set rumour mills alight, with some thinking this could light the way for Varnado to join AEW.
Fightful Select have reported that sources in the AEW locker room are excited over the possibility of Varnado becoming ‘All Elite’, with one source reportedly feeling Varnado would be another ‘anchor’ for AEW’s women’s division, and could significantly help viewership, as well as propel the often ‘underpushed’ division forward.
Earlier this year it was reported that Varnado would not be taking any independent wrestling bookings after January 1 2023. Wrestle Kingdom falls on January 4, with an AEW show in Los Angeles pitting Britt Baker and Jamie Hayter against Saraya and a ‘mystery partner’ occurring shortly after. Of course, the WWE Royal Rumble also falls after January 1, so for now it’s a case of watch and see as to where Sasha Banks ends up.
