Report: Tino Sabbatelli Re-Signs With WWE NXT
He's back after a very brief stint in AEW...
Oct 16, 2020
NXT Superstar Tino Sabbatelli was released by WWE back in April as part of company-wide cutbacks. The former NFL player had been a free agent since his release, but Mike Johnson of PWInsider reported earlier today that Sabbatelli has signed a new NXT deal with his former employers.
Fightful Select reported Sabbatelli was at the Performance Center recently. He was included on an internal scheduling list at the training facility and ended up appearing at the center.
Sabbatelli's first stint with WWE lasted from 2014 until April 2020. He spent much of his time with the company in a tag team with Riddick Moss. They primarily competed on house shows, but they did infrequently wrestle on NXT as enhancement talent against the likes of SAnitY and #DIY. Sabbatelli ultimately turned on Moss after a loss to Heavy Machinery in April 2018, but he suffered a torn pectoral muscle a few weeks later and spent 22 months on the sidelines. He wrestled a handful of times after he returned in February 2020 but was released two months later.
Sabbatelli also had a brief stint in All Elite Wrestling as Sabby following his WWE release. He only worked one set of Dark tapings, though, and Fightful Select noted people within AEW blamed him for leaking information online. Chris Jericho previously claimed an "NXT reject" leaked news of Eric Bischoff's AEW: Dynamite appearance on Reddit.
