Report: Tom Phillips Released By WWE

The former Raw commentator has been let go

WWE has released commentator Tom Phillips, according to a report from Fightful

No official announcement has been made by WWE as of yet, but Phillips has been let go during what has been a week of cutbacks within the company.

Phillips joined WWE in 2012 and he first appeared on-screen conducting backstage interviews for the WWE app. He became a commentator soon after and he has been an announcer on every modern WWE show, including NXT, NXT UK, Monday Night Raw, Friday Night SmackDown, Main Event and 205 Live.

Phillips was the play-by-play commentator on Raw from January 26, 2020, until April 12, 2021, when he was replaced by Adnan Virk. Virk himself departed the company earlier this week and has since been replaced by former Bellator announcer Jimmy Smith.

After being removed from his Raw position, Phillips oversaw special WWE projects on Peacock while announcing on 205 Live. He also remained in his backstage role as Senior Manager, On Air Talent until he was let go.
