Toni Storm's sudden removal from AEW TV and the expectation that she won't be wrestling again in 2026 is reportedly not because of an injury.
That is according to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, who said: "On the Toni Storm thing, it appears she's not gonna be wrestling for a long, long time, and this was something that they found out on Wednesday. It was not an injury or anything like that. On Wednesday, she's there. She is set up to wrestle in this match, and they had to do this emergency angle to take her out and put Mina Shirakawa in. They, on the day, on Wednesday, earliest Wednesday morning, certainly all day Tuesday, they were under the impression that she was going to be wrestling."
Toni Storm was scheduled to face Marina Shafir in a No Holds Barred Match on the post-Revolution episode of AEW Dynamite. Only 10 minutes before Dynamite went on the air, however, AEW posted a social media clip of Storm being discovered laid out in a locker room lying in a pool of her own blood and being checked on by Luther and Mina Shirakawa. Storm's tag team partner then replaced her in the Marina Shafir match and Mina Shirakawa picked up the win with a Storm Zero.
Storm's issue has led to plans changing within AEW, seemingly for Ronda Rousey too as a future singles or tag team match between Storm and Rousey was set up at Revolution. AEW already have a creative direction in place for the reveal of who Storm's backstage attacker will be.
Toni Storm has been signed to All Elite Wrestling since 2022 and she is one of the top stars in the promotion's women's division. She is a record four-time AEW Women's World Champion and Storm has held the belt for a combined 640 days.
