Report: Tony Khan Not Releasing Any AEW Talents

A new AEW doctrine from Tony Khan

Malakai Black and Buddy Matthews' futures with All Elite Wrestling have been uncertain in recent weeks.

Black confirmed he had requested his release from the promotion, reportedly after WWE reached out to him about a return, but the House of Black leader revealed today that AEW had not let him go and he would be returning "pretty soon."

Buddy Matthews then announced over the weekend that he would be taking some time off from AEW and reports have noted he also wants to return to WWE.

In an update, Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that Tony Khan has introduced a new doctrine and no wrestlers will be getting released.

"Nobody is getting released. That's the doctrine. Tony Khan made that very clear I guess in the last couple of days so now he's [Malakai Black] not being released. Buddy Matthews is not being released. That's the situation...That is the decision that was made. It's not to say it's hard and fast and there's gonna be no way and he'll never give anybody a release but I think it's pretty much the deal that if this happened in the other company, would those people get releases? And the answer is no," Meltzer said.
