Report: Tony Khan Upset With Sammy Guevara Over Potentially Hurting AEW's Relationship With Impact

Stemming from his Inner Circle walkout

On this past Wednesday's episode of AEW Dynamite, Sammy Guevara quit the Inner Circle. As he left the venue in a later segment, Guevara told Alex Marvez he needed a break from "this place."

According to a report from Slam Wrestling, Chris Jericho pitched an idea to AEW President Tony Khan about having Guevara show up on Impact, in the wake of his quitting his group.

Khan reportedly contacted Impact, and the sides agreed to a way of writing Guevara into an angle.

Plans were made to shoot the angle the next day, but Impact reportedly received a message from Guevara himself, complaining about the creative direction.

According to Slam's report, Impact then reached out to Khan and Jericho with Guevara's apparent displeasure.

The report then states, "Jericho reached out to Impact Executive Vice-President Don Callis about banning Guevara from Impact’s premises. By the time Guevara arrived in Nashville he received a message from Jericho advising him to return home and not to head to Impact’s shooting location."

AEW management is concerned that Guevara may have adversely affected the working relationship between the two promotions.
