Triple H was reportedly "dismayed" by WWE's booking of Karrion Kross when he was called up to the main roster in 2021, according to a report from Fightful Select.

Kross made his WWE main roster debut without Scarlett on the July 19, 2021, edition of Monday Night Raw and he lost his debut match to Jeff Hardy while NXT Champion. He was then repackaged with a new post-apocalyptic look of a helmet and red straps that drew an overwhelmingly negative reaction from fans, with it being compared to Lord Humungus from Mad Max 2.

The situation didn't improve for Kross and he was pulled from TV after September 27 before he and Scarlett were released in November.

This differed greatly from Kross' time on NXT under the direction of Triple H where The Herald of Doomsday was presented as a dominant force, remaining undefeated in singles action on the developmental brand until his final match at NXT TakeOver 36.

Kross has since returned to WWE, with him and Scarlett appearing on Friday's episode of SmackDown and immediately establishing the two-time NXT Champion as a main event talent. This comes after Triple H was installed as the new head of creative following Vince McMahon's retirement.
