Report: Triple H Not Working Directly With NXT

The COO's working status has been clarified

Though Paul "Triple H" Levesque had told people at WWE's Performance Center that he was "back" last month, it doesn't appear that the NXT founder is back working for that brand, as some had come to believe.

A report in this week's Wrestling Observer Newsletter clarifies Levesque's job status in WWE. The "I'm back" statement Levesque reportedly made to WWE personnel in Orlando last month simply meant that he was back working in WWE offices.

The Observer report adds that Levesque has had nothing to do with NXT since making the statement, nor has he appeared at a single Tuesday night taping since. As of this report, it is still Shawn Michaels and a small creative staff that oversee NXT.

Levesque has been part of running WWE's NIL (Name, Image, Likeness) program, designed to recruit college athletes, and is scheduled to be on hand at the next set of tryouts during SummerSlam week in Nashville.

The 52-year-old formally announced his in-ring retirement in March, in part due to serious heart issues that came up last year.
