It has been seven months since the 2021 WWE Draft, and reports have emerged suggesting when the 2022 edition could be scheduled for.

Previously it was rumoured that the draft could be taking place this coming September, but writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer has suggested it could even be earlier than that:

“Ringside News reported that the WWE draft was tentatively scheduled for September. A WWE source told us that it could be August, right after SummerSlam, or could be September. No date was finalised but the gut feeling was after SummerSlam or in the lead up to the Cardiff show, but it’s definitely right now set for that time frame,” Meltzer wrote.

The 2022 draft will be the 17th in WWE history, with the inaugural brand split and draft taking place in March 2002. The 2011 draft served as the final one before the brand split was scrapped, with WWE changing their minds in 2016 and reinstating the brand split in July of that year.
