Report: Update On Ace Steel's AEW Status

What's the deal with Steel?

A new report has shed some light on the AEW status of Ace Steel.

According to the Wrestling Observer's Dave Meltzer, Steel has been signed to a deal for "many weeks". He added that the former backstage producer will be working from home as part of the arrangement.

A previous report had suggested that Steel had been re-hired "many months" ago. IMPACT Wrestling had tried to bring him in for a tryout as a producer, but the 50-year-old passed on the offer, leading to speculation that he was bound for either AEW or WWE.

It was believed that issues arose between CM Punk and AEW over whether Steel would be allowed to work backstage at forthcoming Collision television tapings, though any issues between Punk and AEW have seemingly been resolved.

Steel was originally hired by AEW in early 2022, but was let go for his involvement in the locker room fight between CM Punk and The Elite (following Punk's explosive comments during the now infamous post-All Out media scrum).

Steel allegedly bit Kenny Omega and threw a chair at Nick Jackson during the scuffle, leading to his dismissal.
