Report: Update On Adam Cole's WWE Contract

After reports suggested his contract was expiring...

At NXT TakeOver: In Your House, Adam Cole defeated The Velveteen Dream to retain the NXT Championship in a Backlot Brawl. Some considered the result somewhat surprising as recent reports indicated Cole's contract was expiring later this summer, and AEW star Britt Baker said she would like to see him reunite with The Young Bucks.

These reports were seemingly incorrect, however, as Mike Johnson at PWInsider reached out to a source in WWE who told him the Leader of The Undisputed ERA's contract "has well over 18 months left." So, while the rumours of Cole jumping to AEW may well resurface, they won't do so until at least January 2022.

Where the NXT Triple Crown Champion goes next remains to be seen, but WWE announced yesterday he will go one on one with Dexter Lumis on this week's episode of NXT. Lumis has tormented The Undisputed ERA in recent weeks and even interfered in the Backlot Brawl on Sunday when he kidnapped Bobby Fish and Roderick Strong.
