Report: The Velveteen Dream Remaining On WWE NXT For The Time Being
He's going nowhere...
Jun 9, 2020
At NXT TakeOver: In Your House, The Velveteen Dream faced off against Adam Cole in a Backlot Brawl for the NXT Championship. Dream ultimately lost the match as his taunting gave the Leader of The Undisputed ERA the opportunity to hit him with a Low Blow, which was followed up with a Panama Sunrise onto a mountain of steel chairs for the 1-2-3.
Now, the former North American Champion can't challenge for the NXT Championship while Adam Cole is champion. This combined with reports that WWE was considering moving Dream to the main roster to give the impression that his days in NXT were numbered.
This reportedly isn't the case, however, as Louis Dangoor at WrestleTalk revealed Velveteen will remain on the black and gold brand for the time being.
The news has since also been reported by Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio.
Meltzer said: "Velveteen Dream's not coming up. You know, we were talking about it after the TakeOver show, like maybe he lost so he's coming to the main roster, but I was pretty much told it's not happening now… It's not in the plans today."
Another name linked with a move to the main roster was Io Shirai, but those plans were also seemingly scrapped as The Genius Of The Sky captured the NXT Women's Championship on Sunday.
