Report: Update On Carlito's WWE Future

The former Intercontinental Champion returned on Sunday

Carlito competed in his first WWE match since April 2010 on Sunday in the Men's Royal Rumble. The former Intercontinental Champion then teamed with Jeff Hardy on Raw and picked up the win over Elias and Jaxson Ryker.

According to Wrestling Inc., Carlito is currently on a three-week trial run with WWE. MVP had reportedly been pushing for the company to take a look at Carlito as a Superstar or producer and Triple H eventually decided to bring Caribbean Cool in for a trial period.

Mike Johnson of PWInsider also noted that Carlito signing with WWE is considered a formality at this point. The former United States Champion has received praise backstage for his in-ring work and the shape he returned in.

Carlito's situation is somewhat similar to MVP's. The former IWGP Intercontinental Champion returned to WWE at Royal Rumble 2020 and later signed with the company as a producer. He quickly became an on-screen talent, though, and he later signed a new multi-year deal. He is prominently featured on Monday Night Raw as the leader of The Hurt Business.
