Report: Update On Jay White Potentially Signing With WWE

Latest on Jay White to WWE

Following reports that Jay White was gone from New Japan Pro-Wrestling, Dave Meltzer has reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that White officially became a free agent as of February 28.

White had spent the past eight years in NJPW and he was presented as one of the promotion's top stars, recently holding the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship until he dropped the belt to Kazuchika Okada in the main event of Wrestle Kingdom 17 in January.

Several promotions are believed to be interested in the 30-year-old but WWE are considered the favourites to sign White. Meltzer further noted in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that "all the circumstances" seem to indicate that White is WWE-bound, but it is not something that is well known within the organisation if he is set to sign on the dotted line. Meltzer noted that multiple people within WWE who usually know about such signings haven't heard White's name mentioned.

If White does sign with WWE, he would become the fourth former Bullet Club leader on the roster along with Finn Balor, Karl Anderson, and AJ Styles.
