Report: Update On Johnny Gargano Following IMPACT Wrestling Appearance

Johnny Gargano made a shock appearance on Thursday's episode of IMPACT Wrestling.

Outside of convention appearances, Johnny Wrestling has largely been away from professional wrestling since his WWE contract expired in December of 2021 but the former NXT Champion popped up on IMPACT last night in a video package praising Alex Shelley. 

Gargano talked about Shelley's legacy in professional wrestling ahead of his IMPACT World Title match against Josh Alexander at Emergence on August 12. 

Following the show, Fightful Select reported that Gargano's appearance was "more of a favor for a friend" and Johnny TakeOver is not currently engaged in talks with IMPACT Wrestling. 

Speculation about Gargano's pro wrestling future has been rife in the past week since Vince McMahon announced his retirement from WWE and Paul "Triple H" Levesque was installed as the new head of creative. Gargano was one of The Game's top stars while he was in charge of NXT during the black-and-gold-brand era of the show. 

During his time away from the ring, Gargano and wife Candice LeRae have welcomed their first child, Quill, into the world.
