Report: Update On Matt Cardona's IMPACT Wrestling Status

Following his debut at Hard To Kill

Matt Cardona shockingly debuted in IMPACT Wrestling over the weekend at Hard To Kill.

The former WWE Superstar was introduced by Scott D'Amore as Ace Austin's surprise opponent after The Ace Of Spades' pleas to be added to the X-Division Title match were denied. Cardona quickly picked up the disqualification victory after interference from Madman Fulton.

Following the pay-per-view, Fightful Select reported that Cardona has not signed a full-time contract with IMPACT, but he is working the company's current TV tapings. IMPACT reportedly planned to tape a couple of months worth of content from January 16 to January 18.

If IMPACT will bring Cardona back for future tapings remains to be seen.

Cardona's match at Hard To Kill was his first bout in a professional wrestling ring since AEW All Out 2020. Strong Island Iced-Z had a two-month stint in All Elite Wrestling over the summer, but he was only signed to an initial five-date deal. Before that, Cardona had a 13-year run in WWE. He was released by the company in April 2020.
