Report: Update On Possible Stone Cold Steve Austin Match At WWE WrestleMania 39

Latest on Stone Cold Steve Austin's possible return at WWE WrestleMania 39

Stone Cold Steve Austin's latest in-ring return remains unclear.

The Texas Rattlesnake came out of retirement at WrestleMania 38, facing Kevin Owens in an impromptu No Holds Barred Match to main event night one of the Showcase of the Immortals after Austin appeared on the Kevin Owens Show.

WWE have looked to bring Austin back for another match at WrestleMania 39 since then, with a pitch having been made to Austin for a bout against Brock Lesnar. That pitch went nowhere, though, and WWE have since reportedly offered Austin a lot more money to face Roman Reigns at the Show of Shows.

How Austin feels about the match was unknown and the situation isn't any clearer, with Fightful Select reporting that WWE have yet to hear back from Stone Cold about facing the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion.

Reigns is currently scheduled to face Royal Rumble winner Cody Rhodes in the main event of WrestleMania 39. Speculation has suggested WWE will split the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at WrestleMania, so Cody could challenge for the WWE Title and Austin could challenge for the Universal Championship if he agrees to perform.
