Report: Update On Potential AEW/NJPW Super-Show Rumours

Many believe Tony Khan’s upcoming ‘huge announcement’ could be an AEW/NJPW super-show

AEW recently revealed that Tony Khan was set to make another of his customary ‘huge announcements’ on the April 20 edition of AEW: Dynamite, with rumours quickly swirling as to what the announcement could be about.

Many believe that there is to be an AEW/NJPW super-show in Chicago in June, with Khan set to announce the news this coming Dynamite, and Dave Meltzer has given his thoughts on the rumours, saying the following on the Sunday Night’s Main Event podcast:

“Yea, I heard the rumours of a New Japan-AEW show and the only thing I can say is I asked and it wasn’t denied. It wasn’t confirmed and they’re not gonna confirm to me the surprise so to me that leaves that one on the table as a potential surprise because if they are not doing that show, I believe I would have been told ‘we’re not doing that show’ so I think there is smoke to that fire.”

NJPW recently started airing AEW programming on NJPW World in Japan, with the relationship between the two companies appearing to be at an all-time high.
