Will Ospreay was recently ruled out of action with an injury, with him set to miss the NJPW/IMPACT Multiverse United event, getting replaced in his match with “Speedball” Mike Bailey by Hiroshi Tanahashi. Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has provided an update on the status of Ospreay and when to expect a return to the ring.

“Will Ospreay estimated that he would be out four to six weeks with this shoulder injury. So I’d say the 4/15 show in Washington, DC, looks to be a miss but we’ll see. By that timetable, Dontaku, Forbidden Door and the G-1 look to be in the cards.”

Ospreay’s status is up in the air for a few matches, such as a scheduled one against Bobby Fish at IPW on 4/22, but it remains to be seen if he will be in a good enough condition to compete in this tournament to crown a new world champion. Ospreay’s last match came in the New Japan Cup just over a week ago, defeating ally and stablemate Mark Davis.
