Report: Update On WWE Day 1 2023

Latest on WWE Day 1

While WWE were set to begin 2023 with the Day 1 pay-per-view from Atlanta, Georgia, that show has reportedly been cancelled, according to reports, and there are no plans to reschedule the event.

A conflicting report has emerged, though, and Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has reported that Day 1 is still scheduled for January 1 at Atlanta's State Farm Arena. WWE considered moving the show, with December 27 discussed a couple of weeks ago as a new date to the point that an unannounced house show in Detroit that day was secretly cancelled. The January 20 episode of SmackDown will take place in the Michigan city instead.

While Day 1 may not have been officially cancelled, it still looks to be in doubt and priority pass ticketholders have not been told if the show will be taking place in Atlanta, nor have WWE responded to any inquiries about the pay-per-view. Tickets were originally scheduled to go on sale on September 23.

If Day 1 is officially cancelled, WWE would have to hold an extra pay-per-view later in 2023 as their Peacock deal calls for 12 premium live events per year. It will also mean there is no WWE pay-per-view between November 26 and January 28.
