Report: Update On WWE Potentially Signing Jay White Following WrestleMania 39

It appears Jay White won't be signing with WWE

Surprises were expected to take place at WrestleMania 39 and on the Raw after the Showcase of the Immortals and one name touted by many to show up over the weekend was Jay White. Alas, the former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion did not make his rumoured WWE debut at WrestleMania or on Raw.

Recent reports had indicated that WWE were growing in confidence about signing White but in an update, PWInsider Elite noted there "was absolutely no discussion of former New Japan Pro-Wrestling star Jay White within WWE at all over Wrestlemania 39 weekend." It also now appears that White is not WWE-bound based on conversations PWInsider have had with WWE officials and wrestlers.

White had previously been a top star in New Japan Pro-Wrestling but he left the promotion on February 18 after losing a Loser Leaves NJPW Match to Eddie Kingston. The former Bullet Club leader's contract expired shortly after.

With WWE seemingly no longer an option, All Elite Wrestling would be considered the most likely destination for White as he was said to be in talks with both WWE and AEW following his NJPW exit.
