While WWE haven't held a pay-per-view in the United Kingdom since Insurrextion 2003 in Newcastle upon Tyne, a major event across the pond appears to be closer than ever.

It emerged last month that WWE were reportedly planning to hold a major pay-per-view in the UK in September 2022 but few details were known beyond that.

In an update, Fightful Select and Dave Meltzer have noted that WWE are planning to run a UK pay-per-view on September 3 or September 4, 2022. The company are in talks with two venues, according to Meltzer, and WWE could run the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales or Wembley Stadium in London, England.

The September pay-per-view will come 30 years after SummerSlam 1992 but The Biggest Party Of The Summer is set to take place on July 30 in Nashville, Tennessee.

WWE originally planned to return to the UK in 2020 but the COVID-19 pandemic derailed plans. The show would have been headlined by then WWE Champion Drew McIntyre vs. Tyson Fury.
