Report: Update On WWE's Taping Schedule For The Holidays

Superstars could be wrestling with a New Year's hangover...

With Christmas Day falling on a Friday this year, there will be a special Christmas edition of Friday Night SmackDown.

This will be the first time a WWE show has fallen on December 25 since 2017 when the company broadcast a live edition of Monday Night Raw from the Allstate Arena in Chicago, Illinois. On that night, fans witnessed Braun Strowman win a Secret Santa Match against The Miztourage, John Cena vanquish Elias and Seth Rollins & Jason Jordan defeat The Bar for the Raw Tag Team Championship.

Reports previously noted that the Christmas episode of SmackDown wouldn't be broadcast live and talent aren't expected to travel to Tropicana Field on December 25.

In an update, Mike Johnson of PWInsider reported the Christmas Day SmackDown will be taped on Tuesday, December 22. The New Year's Day edition of SmackDown will be broadcast live, though.

The Christmas Day SmackDown is the only scheduling change for WWE during the Christmas period and Raw and NXT will continue to be broadcast live every Monday and Wednesday.
