Report: Update On WWE Talent Crossing Over To Different Brands

Will the brand split be a thing of the past?

While WWE has mostly stuck to the brand split over the last year, Friday Night SmackDown's Roman Reigns and The Usos appeared on the September 20 episode of Monday Night Raw. The Bloodline initially teamed together in the opening contest against The New Day and Reigns was then in action later in the night against WWE Champion Big E and Bobby Lashley.

Ahead of the show, reports noted that if Reigns' advertised appearances on the show led to a bigger than normal rating for Raw, WWE would consider showcasing top talent across both Raw and SmackDown going forward.

In an update, though, Dave Meltzer has reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that top stars appearing on both brands was "not a long-term strategy. Not even a short-term one." As of this week, appearances like Reigns' on Monday was not something WWE was planning to do on a regular basis.

Meltzer noted, however, the current policy could "change on a moment's notice" should WWE's ratings decline.
