Report: Vince McMahon Insisting Petey Williams Be Called 'Pete' Or 'Peter'

Vince McMahon has always had a strange relationship with staff and talents' names in WWE, with the boss seemingly having a fetish for shortening Superstars' in-ring monikers.

The WWE Chairman has now reportedly discovered a new name he dislikes and Fightful Select noted that McMahon is insisting WWE producer Petey Williams be referred to as 'Peter' or 'Pete.' The two-time X-Division Champion has also received praise for his producing from talent and WWE management. 

Williams initially began working as a backstage producer in WWE on a trial basis in October of 2021 until he was signed by the company in early January 2022. 

Before he signed with WWE, Williams competed inside the squared circle for 20 years, making his debut in 2001. He is most famous for his multiple runs in IMPACT Wrestling between 2004 and 2021 but he also performed for the likes of Ring Of Honor, Lucha Libre USA and various independent wrestling companies during his in-ring career.

It was noted at the time of his WWE signing that Williams had received praise from talents as they had grown up watching him inside the ring.
