Madcap Moss was written off WWE TV on last week's edition of Friday Night SmackDown, with the company announcing the 2022 Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal winner had suffered a "cervical contusion" as a result of an attack from Happy Corbin and was out indefinitely.

The attack came about while Moss was being interviewed inside the squared circle and Corbin laid out his former friend before he used the ARMBR trophy to hit a steel chair that was around Madcap's neck.

In an update on the situation, Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Moss was written off TV because of a possible gimmick change. There have been pitches within the company to change his look and character since he has turned babyface and the idea is currently under consideration, although no plans have been greenlit yet.

Prior to being written off TV, Moss was on the receiving end of a push in WWE and he has had pay-per-view matches with Drew McIntyre in 2022 alongside his ARMBR win. He also picked up a win over Happy Corbin at the May 8 WrestleMania Backlash pay-per-view.
