Report: Why Bobby Lashley Was Partnered With MVP On WWE Raw Revealed

Another title run could be in The All Mighty's future...

Since the Money In The Bank pay-per-view, MVP has been Bobby Lashley's mouthpiece on Monday Night Raw and they quickly garnered success together as The All Mighty will have his first world title match in WWE in 13 years when he goes one on one with Drew McIntyre at Backlash on June 14.

Many fans wanted to see Porter and Lashley as a team, and Dave Meltzer revealed in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter they were put together because Paul Heyman wanted the former Intercontinental Champion to have a mouthpiece for a future title run. Meltzer didn't note which championship Lashley will be winning, but McIntyre losing the WWE Championship so soon after WrestleMania 36 will not be a popular decision with fans.

Meltzer also provided a further update on MVP's WWE status. The former IWGP Intercontinental Champion was furloughed back on April 15 from his producer role, but he had already been booked as an on-screen manager by this point, which is why he is currently a full-time in-ring talent.
