Report: Why Shaquille O'Neal's AEW Match Is On Dynamite Revealed

Days before Revolution

Shaquille O'Neal is set to compete in his first professional wrestling match since WrestleMania 32 on the March 3 episode of AEW: Dynamite. Shaq will team with Jade Cargill against Cody Rhodes and Red Velvet.

It initially seemed like the match would take place at Revolution, especially after Cody and Red Velvet's challenge on last week's Dynamite, but the match will be before the pay-per-view instead.

Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that AEW booked the match for March 3 because Shaq will probably be working on the day of the pay-per-view. O'Neal is an analyst on TNT's Inside the NBA and the NBA All-Star Game will likely take place on March 7 in Atlanta.

The match on March 3 will be Shaq's second professional wrestling match. O'Neal previously competed in the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania 32 and the four-time NBA Champion looked set to face The Big Show at a future 'Mania but he couldn't agree to a deal with WWE.
