While talent had long campaigned for WWE to produce a second all-women's Evolution pay-per-view, the backstage reaction to the planning for the upcoming show has been less than positive.
WWE Evolution II is scheduled to air from Atlanta's State Farm Arena on Sunday, July 13 as part of a weekend filled with WWE shows to go up against AEW All In, which is planned for Saturday, July 12 in Arlington, Texas.
Evolution has strong competition in Atlanta that weekend too as Beyonce is performing in Atlanta from July 10 to July 14 and the MLB All-Star Weekend is also being held in the city.
The combination of Evolution taking place on the same weekend as AEW All In and in the same city as Beyonce and MLB All-Star Weekend meant talent weren't thrilled with the planning for the WWE show, according to Sean Ross Sapp on Fightful's The Hump.
"So a lot of the women that I was speaking to felt…a lot of them felt like it was set up. One, it was put in against All In weekend, across the street from a Beyonce concert, during MLB All-Star Weekend when a lot of the hotels were going to be bought up in the area. They weren't necessarily thrilled with that, but it was hastily produced," Sean Ross Sapp said.
Matches already announced for WWE Evolution include IYO SKY vs. Rhea Ripley for the Women's World Championship, Jacy Jayne vs. Jordynne Grace for the NXT Women's Title, a fatal 4-way for the WWE Women's Tag Team Titles, and a battle royal for a title shot at Clash in Paris.
The WWE Women's Title match at Evolution will be revealed on tonight's SmackDown, while the internal favourite to win the battle royal emerged earlier this week.
