Report: Women's Wrestler Turns Down WWE Referee Job Offer

Looking for their own Aubrey?

Casey Michael of Squared Circle Sirens is reporting that WWE is on the look for new referees, but specifically female ones. Michael added, "They offered a female indie wrestler the ref job and she turned them down," although the identity of said wrestler has not been revealed.

WWE does have one female official on their total roster, Jessika Carr, among some 20 other male referees.

The timing of the reported search is curious, given the recent uptick in publicity for AEW referee Aubrey Edwards, particularly in the last few days.

This past weekend has been a whirlwind one for Edwards, who made history by officiating the Chris Jericho/Adam Page AEW World Title match at All Out in Chicago on Saturday. The following day, Edwards tweeted that she had signed a full-time deal with All Elite Wrestling.

Edwards did have prior experience with WWE. In 2018, she officiated briefly for NXT and during that year's Mae Young Classic. She, along with Carr, was also one of the referees at last October's Evolution pay-per-view.
