After months of rumours, it appears Enzo Amore is officially back with WWE.

PWInsider has reported that there has been a lot of talk about Enzo Amore signing with WWE at some point over the last week. While not confirmed, the belief is the 39-year-old will be utilised on NXT. The signing would bring Enzo Amore back to WWE eight years on from his release.

Enzo Amore - who currently wrestles as Real1 - began his first WWE run in 2012. Upon debuting on NXT TV in 2013, he soon formed a tag team with Big Cass and Enzo & Cass were one of WWE's most popular tag teams across NXT and then the main roster until their split in the summer of 2017. After a brief feud between the former partners, which included Enzo being suspended above the ring in a shark cage for Big Cass vs. The Big Show at SummerSlam 2017, Enzo transitioned to the cruiserweight division and he quickly became a two-time WWE Cruiserweight Champion.

Enzo was released while reigning as WWE Cruiserweight Champion in January 2018 after the Phoenix Police Department confirmed he was under investigation for an alleged sexual assault that took place in October 2017. The police investigation was dropped in May of 2018 due to insufficient evidence.

Amore had been out of WWE since then with the exception of him attending Survivor Series 2018 of his own volition and shouting his catchphrases while standing on a seat which resulted in him being kicked out of the venue by security.

Since his WWE release, Enzo Amore has had a two-year stint in Major League Wrestling and he briefly popped up in TNA as a representative of 4th Rope Wrestling, teaming with Zilla Fatu and Josh Bishop to defeat Steve Maclin, Jake Something, and Mance Warner at Slammiversary 2025. The former WWE Cruiserweight Champion has primarily wrestled on the independent wrestling scene, however.

It first emerged in May of 2026 that WWE were interested in signing Enzo Amore and Big Cass and booking them as a tag team once again, but it was quickly reported that WWE instead planned to use Amore on NXT instead.

Big Cass made his WWE return on the post-SummerSlam edition of Raw but Enzo Amore was nowhere to be seen despite his WWE comeback looking to be all but a done deal in the summer. There was no word on why WWE opted not to sign Enzo at the time but it was noted that WWE didn't plan to reunite Amore with Big Cass due to fears the reunion would limit the former Big Bill's upside.
