Report: WWE & AEW Competing For Top Prospect

WWE & AEW want a top prospect

WWE and All Elite Wrestling are competing for a top prospect and Tony Khan's promotion looks set to come out on top.

According to Fightful Select, there have been discussions within AEW about possibly working with Mariah May. It is unknown if AEW have held talks with May but "there certainly is traction to her going there." May has been a regular in World Wonder Ring Stardom in 2023 and speculation has suggested she could be finishing up in Japan, with May having shut down her Big Cartel store. She also recently dropped the Goddess of Stardom Titles with Mina Shirakawa.

May has been gathering steam in Stardom over the past year and her recent match with Giulia was praised by many as the best of May's run in Stardom.  The 25-year-old previously had a tryout at WWE's UK Performance Center in 2019 and the company reached out to her very shortly after May's pro wrestling career began. WWE has been keeping an eye on her ever since the tryout, but "AEW has been the company picking up steam as a potential landing point." There is no word on if WWE have held negotiations with May.

Prior to heading to Stardom in January of this year, May was a regular on the United Kingdom independent wrestling scene, performing for the likes of RevPro, Kamikaze Pro, and SMW.
