Many fans have spotlighted a big gap in quality during 2025 when it comes to Monday Night RAW and Friday Night SmackDown, with the blue brand experiencing far less in terms of hype, star power, and roster depth. Well, it isn’t only fans that are aware of this, as WWE are also in full acknowledgement of the fact that SmackDown has been lacking.
According to a report from BodySlam.net, WWE has been aware that the brand “needs help on the creative and talent side”, with discussions taking place to find ways to improve things. It is stated that SmackDown is expected to be given a “little boost” when it comes to the roster, though it isn’t known if this means impending NXT call-ups or else names from RAW being drafted over to add to the star power of current names like WWE Champion Cody Rhodes, WWE Women's Champion Jade Cargill, Charlotte Flair, and more.
WWE announced that SmackDown will be moving to three hours in January, beginning with the January 2 episode in Buffalo, New York. This report suggests that the switch to three hours is a reason as to why WWE is implementing some changes in their approach to the show.
