Report: WWE Considered A Demon Finn Balor Return
WWE reportedly wanted Finn Balor to revive The Demon
It’s been a long time since Finn Balor unleashed the Demon on WWE, but reports suggest that Balor’s wicked alter ego could have been set for a return earlier this year.
Balor is currently feuding with WWE Hall of Famer Edge, with the two likely to clash at WrestleMania 39 in April. The pair were originally set to have s ingles match at Royal Rumble in January - reportedly a hell in a Cell match - but this was scrapped due to scheduling conflicts, with the two instead having a pull-apart brawl during the Rumble match itself.
A new report from Fightful Select suggests that WWE were planning on the Balor and Edge Hell in a Cell at the Rumble featuring Balor as The Demon, in order to give the match a greater buzz.
The idea never made it past the planning stage though, with some in WWE allegedly feeling that the Demon wouldn’t suit Balor’s current gimmick as leader of The Judgment Day.
Balor hasn’t used The Demon gimmick since losing to Roman Reigns at WWE Extreme Rules 2021.
